ALU vs. PVC slats

The all-aluminum roller shutters offer optimal sound insulation and enhanced security. Aesthetically, the choice of colours is extensive and the finish is effectively resistant to UV and weather wear.

PVC slats have high thermal insulation while the material is a more economical option. The material is sensitive to UV and bad weather, and colour fading, especially white. PVC slats are always associated with an aluminum frame, ie box, side guide tracks and bottom slat.

Slat apertures for good ventilation

The AvosDim roller shutter curtain has apertures between the slats. These are regular openings / interstices which allow ventilation with lowered (not fully closed) shutters, or to darken without obscuring light completely.

When completely closed the shutters offer a full blackout.

Spring & lock manual control shutters are made with non-perforated slats for technical reasons.

Shutter curtain clips

Shutter slat curtains are attached to the roller tube with flexible curtain clips as standard. These are space-saving, flexible and hold up very well to multiple daily operations. Depending on the control type selected, rigid hanger clips, also called anti-lift clips, are also available. These rigid clips prevent the shutter from being pryed up from underneath for absolute security.

Slat end inserts

If you choose aluminum slats, they are supplied with black PVC slat end inserts crimped in place to ensure slat alignment and smooth operation.

Noise reduction: With the end inserts the aluminum of the slats is no longer in direct contact with the aluminum of the side tracks, this means less noise when the shutter is in use.
Slat protection: The slats are inserted at the ends, crimped in place, ensuring the slat curtain alignment. Increased slat alignment prolongs the life of your shutter, helping to prevent operation issues and damage.

Bottom slat

The reinforced bottom slat is the last slat, supporting the rest of the shutter curtain it is essential for the smooth operation of the shutter. Need to replace yours? We offer a high-quality all aluminium bottom slat with rubber seal.

Invisible end stops

The two end stops are positioned at each end of the bottom slat. They are completely invisible once the curtain is installed. Stoppers are recommended for strap, crank, spring & lock and motorised shutters.

Conical end stops

The conical stops are screw fixed to the bottom slat, visiible on each side. They're available in white and black.

Guide tracks

The aluminium guide tracks on each side allow the smooth vertical operation of the shutter unit. Integrated brush seals reduce operation noise as well as improving the product life span. Available in several colour options, AvosDim shutter tracks allow your old shutter to be updated economically.

Before confirming the order, make sure to select a model identical to the existing format and dimensions.

When ordering with guide tracks, the tracks will measure 90mm less than your finished height of the slat curtain, and can be cut down further by you at the time of installation.

How to take measurements for a slat curtain replacement

Slat curtain to be replaced is still in place:

To measure the width, open the shutter box and measure the total width of the slats. If the slats have alternating plastic end inserts, they should be taken into account in the calculation. For the height measure the visible closed height with the box cover still in place, we add 200mm extra to account for inside the box (extra slats can be removed if necessary).

Slat curtain to be replaced has already been removed:

Measure the height and width of the slat curtain on the ground with the slats tight, including any slat end inserts.

Replacing your tracks with ours does not change the sizing. Just be sure to replace with the same format. Alternatively measure between inside bottom track channels and remove 5mm from your finished curtain width for running clearance.
